Long Term Monitoring of Physical Habitat
Monitoring the effects of environmental water in the Goulburn River.
One of the greatest challenges of providing water for the environment is demonstrating the ecosystem response. In this ongoing monitoring project Streamology (in conjunction with the University of Melbourne) is assessing changes in bank condition and hydraulic habitat relative to environmental water management. The physical response is not necessarily as we expected, and these explicit relationships can now assist with strategic water management for maximum benefit. Partners include the Murray Darling Basin Authority, the Victorian and Commonwealth Environmental Water Holders, and the Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority.
