Dr Abdullah Al baky

Abdullah is a geomorphologist with a passion for understanding and managing fluvial processes in rivers, lakes and floodplains using the latest spatial science (GIS and Remote Sensing) and hydraulic modelling tools.

Abdullah completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne. His PhD is the first study to develop a complete theory of how avulsion channels develop and re-join to the parent channel. His study identified a new mechanism of relative accretion that clarifies how such channels develop in low energy fluvial systems.

He has a special interest in understanding anabranching rivers, particularly how river develops anabranch over time. Besides this, he has interest in the dynamics of river confluence. He has strong expertise in developing geoprocessing script with python.

In his spare time, Abdullah enjoys audiobooks, chatting with friends and playing Xbox game (FIFA).
